Abstract

The fourth generation of synchrotron radiation sources places greater emphasis on beam stability. To decrease coupled-bunch instability caused by parasitic resonant cavity modes, a single-cell normal conducting cavity with a broadband higher order mode damping system is proposed. First, the radiofrequency performance of the proof-of-principle cavity is improved by multi-objective optimization of the cavity through machine learning. Based on this premise, the higher order mode damping system is designed to meet the needs of the Wuhan Photon Source. Finally, the feasibility of the design scheme is demonstrated by low-power tests.
