Abstract
In the molecular structure of 5-ferrocenyl-5-methyltetrahydrofuran-2-one, [Fe(C5H5)(C10H11O2)], the five-membered heterocyclic ring adopts a distorted envelope conformation. The ferrocenyl substituent is in an equatorial position with respect to this ring. In the crystal structure, there are close C—H⋯O and C—H⋯π intermolecular contacts.
