Abstract

Through the story of Jamaica West, this chapter walks the physical and interior geography of digital Black Christianity. In the process, it examines the relationship between digital Black Christians and physically located churches headed by digital Black Christians and/or originated by the urban church planting movement. The author returns to the book’s thesis that the digital Black Church lives in its linguistic attempts at intimacy-building. This sort of webwork can be seen in a number of texts and sermons offered by the Black Church, both in person and online. Pointing to the Epilogue, the chapter identifies a few trends that the work of digital Black Christian pastors and churches may suggest for the future of the Black Church.
