Abstract

Despite being the fastest growing ethnic group in the United States, Asian Americans (AsAms) are grossly underrepresented in ADHD research. This is the first study to examine ADHD in AsAm college students who may be at greater risk for college maladjustment due to internalization of the model minority myth. This study examines ADHD prevalence rates, functional impairments, and treatment usage for ADHD among AsAm college students. AsAm college students are expected to have lower reported diagnoses of ADHD compared to European American (EA) and African American (AfAm) college students.
