Abstract

This study deals with the optical and luminescent properties of a double molybdate containing rare earth elements, specifically focusing on La2Zr3(MoO4)9:Eu3+ and comparing it with the widely used Y2O3:Eu3+, (Y,Gd)BO3:Eu3+ and YVO4:Eu3+ as well as Y2O2S:Eu3+ and Y(P,V)O4:Eu3+ phosphors. It utilizes Kubelka Munk Theory to estimate the absorption strengths of these materials. Higher absorption coefficients indicate greater efficiency in absorbing light, leading to more intense and brighter luminescence. This investigation aims to assess La2Zr3(MoO4)9:Eu3+ as a promising luminescent material for optoelectronics and solid state lighting by comparing its absorbance properties.
