Abstract

Absolute partial photoionisation cross sections in xenon were determined with special emphasis on one- and many-electron processes involving the ejection of a 4d electron. To obtain sufficiently accurate data, a special method for the direct determination of the absolute 4d photoionisation cross section and the convenient method of the partition of the total cross section into the individual contributions were both employed. The results are compared with other electron and ion spectrometry experiments and with many-body perturbation theory calculations.
