Abstract
One of the critical elements for a successful 4D seismic project is to maximize imaging repeatability between the different seismic vintages in seismic processing by using the same seismic processing sequences and parameters, including the final migration velocity model. Here we propose a new approach “4D Image Scan” to assess the uncertainties in the migration velocity model and how we can use this approach to refine the velocity model for the 4D qualitative and quantitative interpretation, We specifically address and demonstrate the impact of uncertainties in the velocity model within the processing workflows on the waterfront, fluid movement, change in water saturation and seismic history matching over Volve field.
