Abstract

Introduction: Coronary artery calcification (CAC) is a strong independent predictor of major adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Society guidelines recommend statin therapy for patients with a CAC score ≥ 100 Agatston units on a dedicated coronary CT scan. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of CAC on CT pulmonary angiogram (CTPA) scans, the frequency of CAC reporting in CTPA reports, and its impact on therapeutic management among patients undergoing CTPA.
