Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present a model for optimizing man-machine system reliability under resource constraints, taking into account the interactions between humans and hardware subsystems. The optimal learning time allocation for pilots is determined both by minimizing the expected total cost and by satisfying a man-machine system reliability objective. A numerical example has been considered: the fulfilment of an aircraft trajectory changing mission (ordered from the ground) by a two-pilot crew with maximum probability, taking into account the aircraft hardware system, the skill of the pilots and finally the interaction between pilots and aircraft.
