In term asymptomatic women, 5000 women have to be treated to prevent one case of EOGBS. Methods and study design: The purpose of the study is to find GBS colonization rate for year 2016 and 2017, incidence of EOGBS sepsis in the neonates in the University Maternity Hospital in Limerick (UMHL) and the cost benefit analysis for use of GBS DNA PCR kit. So that only those women who have current GBS would be treated and save all the surveillance tests, antibiotics and costs.
