Abstract

The catalytic activity and mechanical strength were measured on six kinds of alumina-supported palladium catalysts, with the view to finding a suitable domestic producft applicable to catalytic recombiner for boiling water reactors. The effective chemical reaction rate constants ke of the catalysts were determined by means of the rate equation presented in the previous paper, and the effect of ke and of the geometric outer surface area as on the catalytic activity were discussed.Two of the domestic catalysts examined were estimated to attain catalytic activity comparable to that of Deoxo (manufactured at Engelhard Co.), by providing ample as. The mechanical strength of these domestic catalysts do not change in calcination below 600°C, and have been found superior to Deoxo.
