Abstract

Introduction: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has been proven to be a safe and effective alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in high, intermediate, and low risk patients. Self-expanding transcatheter aortic valves have been shown to have superior hemodynamics when compared to surgery, but continue to have a significantly higher rate of permanent pacemaker (PPM) placement with publications quoting a PPM rate of 17.4%. We sought to assess our institution’s PPM rate compared to recent published data.
