Abstract

Introduction: In primary prevention, the identification of risk factors that enhance atherogenesis and inflammation are key to reducing the risk of an ASCVD event. LDL cholesterol has been known to underestimate risk in certain patient populations. Advanced lipid testing can obtain LDL particle number (LDL-P) which has been shown to be associated with an increased risk of having an event when elevated and discrepant with LDL-C. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is a tool that is validated to assess plaque burden using the semi-quantitative segment involvement score (SIS) and coronary calcium score (CAC).
