Abstract

This paper proposes to utilize the multi-way decomposition method PARAFAC for analysis on lateral vibration of a simply supported beam. First we use wavelet transform to pre-process the data series measured by five sensors, then the coefficients of the wavelet transform are decomposed by PARAFAC to trilinear components, which represent frequency, temporal, and spatial profiles. We easily obtain natural frequencies and modal shapes. Results of numerical calculations show the validity of this method.
