Abstract

Primary care providers (PCPs) are in a unique position to screen, identify, and treat very young children in the medical home. Given the prevalence of behavioral, emotional, and developmental (B/E/D) disorders, the scarcity and inaccessibility of specialists, and the consequences of unmet needs for individuals with B/E/D disorders and their families, the evaluation and management of B/E/D disorders must fall not only on developmental/developmental behavioral pediatricians and child psychiatrists but also on general pediatric providers. At present, PCPs may not be fully equipped or prepared to assume these responsibilities. The goal of this presentation is to introduce participants to a multidisciplinary model of integrated care using the Project Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO™) model of tele-education.
