Abstract

Two major randomized trials demonstrated the benefit of progesterone for women with short cervix on transvaginal (TV) ultrasound (US). However, TV US requires the commitment of significant resources and the prevalence of short cervix in a low-risk population is low. Transabdominal (TA) cervical length (CL) at anatomy US may be a good screening test for short TV CL. However, prior studies are inconclusive as to the clinical usefulness of TA CL. The primary objective of this study was to determine whether TA CL can be used to identify short cervix on TV US in otherwise low risk women.
