45. Clinical, Radiological & Histopathological analysis of factors limiting/ effecting the decision making process in managing SCC of the mandible (and gingiva)

Abstract

We analysed cases that required segmental resection of the mandible; correlating clinical and radiological assessment with final histopathology. We plan bony resection with our Radiologists as part of “The Nottingham protocol of resections planning for oral Cavity and craniofacial tumours”. We aimed to look at factors influencing treatment decision making by the MDT in SCC of the mandible. Criteria for bone involvement (pT4) were redefined by TNM8. The exact threshold of bone invasion and hence pT4 may vary between Pathologists.
