Abstract

Practitioners play an important role in identification and mitigation of prescription-opioid abuse. Inadequate knowledge regarding the topic can lead to under-vigilance (impeding deterrence) or over-vigilance (impeding legitimate pain-relief). Understanding practitioners’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding opioids and abuse-deterrent formulations (ADFs) may help identify gaps and guide development of improved multi–disciplinary pain management strategies. We conducted a survey (paper-based or electronic) at a CME pain conference held in Las Vegas (PAINWeek 2013).
