Abstract

The effect of luminance and illuminance on visual comfort was explored on TV screen with subjective and physiological measurements. The results condensed by information utility value and principal component analysis revealed that 250 cd/m2 and 400 cd/m2 were the optimum display luminance levels under <1 lx and 500 lx respectively and the illuminance of 500 lx induced less physiological discomfort than <1 lx.
