Abstract

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Because posterior decompression is less effective in the treatment of ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) in the thoracic spine, circumferential spinal cord decompression through a posterior approach is often required. However, this procedure is technically demanding and has a risk for postoperative paraplegia. Long-term clinical outcome data and complication rate of this procedure are infrequently present in the literature.
