Abstract

We have previously shown that locally overexpressed exogenous interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) in cardiac allografts synergistically inhibited alloimmune response and acute rejection in rabbit heart transplant model. The mean survival of cardiac allograft was prolonged from 7±1 days in Control Group (CG) to 134±10 days in IL-4 and IL-10 combined gene therapy Group (IL-4&10G).
