Abstract

Interval cancers after colonoscopy are more likely to be found in the proximal or right colon, and could be due to missed lesions. Proximal colon hyperplastic polyps have been included among these, plausibly as unrecognized serrated lesions or their precursors. Diminutive lesions can harbor malignancies (CGH 2006;4:343; AJSP 2007;31:207). Recent reports indicated that water exchange (WE) significantly increased diminutive adenoma and hyperplastic polyp detection in the proximal or right colon in predominantly male patients (AJG 2014;109:1390; JIG 2011;1:8; JIG 2011;1:48).
