Abstract
An increase in fetal brain temperature of only 1°C may worsen hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Akin to the effect of postnatal hypothermia, we surmised that cooling of the intrauterine environment may provide protection for fetuses at increased risk of HIE. We hypothesized that intrapartum amnioinfusion (AI) influences intrauterine temperature (IT).
