43: Center specific outcome experience with extended cardiac donors in primary and re-do heart transplantation

Abstract

The unresolved shortage of optimal cardiac donors has prompted many transplant centers to consider extended donors (ED). Although controversial, ED have been suggested as an alternative organ pool for heart transplant (HT) candidates that may otherwise require ventricular assist support or die on the waiting list. Therefore, we sought to determine our experience with ED.
