Abstract

Introduction: Increased pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) attenuation based on CT angiography (CTA) is a surrogate marker of perivascular inflammation and was shown to be associated with plaque development and vulnerability. The first-generation photon-counting detector CT (PCD-CT) has excellent temporal and spatial resolution and might allow for a more precise assessment of PCAT. PCD-CT allows tissue assessment in multiple energy ranges by providing virtual monoenergetic images (VMI). The aim of our study was to evaluate PCAT at different monoenergetic energy levels using a dual-source PCD-CT as compared with polychromatic images at 120 kV (T3D).
