Abstract

There is increasing recognition of the need for expanded treatment of adolescents with substance use disorders throughout the United States. Specialists and specialty clinics for the treatment of adolescent mental health and substance use are often concentrated in academic and urbanized settings, unable to meet the need for adolescent substance use treatment, and often too distant for rural providers to access. With recognition of this treatment need, there are increasing efforts to provide educational and clinical resources to support rural providers in the treatment of substance use disorders.
