Abstract
Adolescence is a developmental period characterized by vulnerabilities for the onset of neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or MDD. Recent research from a large dataset consortium has demonstrated that genetic factors, altered brain activity, and social skills can all contribute to the development of psychosis symptoms during adolescence. Symptoms of psychosis can also develop in the context of substance use. The main goal of this presentation is to provide a comprehensive review of the current literature on those topics and to illustrate the relevant clinical points with appropriate vignettes.
