Abstract

Introduction: Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (ApHCM) is increasingly prevalent and not as benign as previously thought. Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CMR) has traditionally been the gold-standard for the diagnosis of ApHCM, however certain factors preclude their use; prompting the use of other modalities such as Cardiac Computed Tomography (CCT). To-date the utility of CCTs in ApHCM is still limited. As such, we aimed to assess the sensitivity of a standard, prospective, diastolic phase CCT (dCCT) compared to CMR in identifying ApHCM by comparing the left ventricular (LV) wall thickness measurements, LV wall ratio, and identifying the prevalence of high-risk features such as apical aneurysm and cardiac thrombus.
