In spite of continuing advances in therapeutic options particularly for more severe atopic dermatitis (AD), topical treatments remain a mainstay of the therapeutic regimen for all patients. However, adherence to topical therapies remains low. Increasing adherence to topical therapies is an important contributor to improving outcomes for patients with AD. In order to better understand the barriers to and facilitators of adhering to topical therapies for AD from the patient perspective, we performed semi-structured interviews of 44 adults with AD.
