411 Emerging Image Transfer Technology for Portable Ultrasonography

Abstract

Study Objectives: As ultrasonography technology becomes increasingly portable, methods for optimizing image transfer from ultra-portable machines has been highlighted as a way to improve novice user training and competency. The development of USB compatible probes has meant that an “ultrasonography machine” can now be almost any electronic device with image display capacity and a USB port. These “pocket-sized” machines still require image transfer and storage mechanisms; especially as one way to train and improve on novice user competency is real-time image acquisition and interpretation guidance by remote expert users.
