41—THE MEASUREMENT OF THE REGAIN OF GREASY WOOL FOR INDUSTRIAL PURPOSES: THE LIMITATIONS OF ELECTRICAL METHODS OF MEASURING THE REGAIN OF GREASY WOOL

Abstract

The errors involved in attempting to use the variation with regain of the dielectric constant, or of the d.c. or a.c. conductivity of greasy wool, as a measure of its regain have been investigated. It is concluded that, in the range 0 to 7·5 Mc/sec, these paraqieters are so dependent on the non-wool constituents of greasy wool, particularly its suint content, that the parameters are not likely to be a useful measure of the regain.
