Abstract

AbstractTwo novel liquid crystal display modes are proposed for wide viewing angle applications. One is named as “electrically‐induced optical compensation (EOC) mode”. It adopts the homeotropic alignment, positive dielectric liquid crystal as well as self domain divided method. The other is named as “Reverse Twisted Hybrid Aligned Nematic(RT HAN) mode” in which the IPS panel structure plus the hybrid LC mode is used. The display principle as well as the performance measured from real displays will be presented.
