Abstract

Relationship between some mechanical properties and cavitation behavior has been investigated on zirconia-alumina composites (3Y-20A) after the superplastic tensile deformation. Hardness and bending strength of the material have degraded gradually, as quantity of the cavity in the material inside has increased, and fracture toughness has changed complicatedly. The fracture toughness, especially, has been improved most with about 1% cavity volume fraction specimen. The fracture toughness must be affected in not only the quantity of cavity but also size of it.
