Abstract

In recent years, clean energy is desired because of environmental issues such as global warming and depletion of fossil fuels. As a way to solve these problems, fuel cell vehicles have attracted attention because the fuel of the fuel cell vehicle is hydrogen that is one of the clean energy. Currently, the 6061 aluminum alloy has been used to a liner material for the hydrogen storage tanks for fuel cell vehicles. There is need for lighter weight and lower cost for the spread of fuel cell vehicles. The 6066 and 6069 aluminum alloys that are stronger than 6061 aluminum alloy is expected as an alternative to 6061 aluminum alloy. For investigating the hydrogen embrittlement of the two alloys, in this study, slow strain rate technique tensile test under moist air environment. As a result of the investigation, the 6066 alloy had some sensitivity to the hydrogen embrittlement.
