Abstract

Patients ≥ 65 years of age are at increased risk of adverse drug events (ADE) from certain medications and recent literature suggests use of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) in emergency departments (ED) and hospitalized older adults may be associated with increased risk of re-admission and ADEs. Clinical decision support (CDS) may minimize and optimize the use of PIMs for older adults in the ED and at ED discharge.
