Abstract
Several antepartum and intrapartum risk factors are associated with cerebral palsy (CP); however, need and duration of neonatal mechanical ventilation (MV) may contribute to CP. One function of MV is to protect the brain from hypoxemia and asphyxia; however, MV use has been associated with adverse effects on the brain of a preterm infant. Currently, there is limited information regarding the duration of MV and incidence of CP; our objective, was to investigate this association.
