Abstract
Early recognition of elevated lactate levels in patients with sepsis may hasten the detection of this time-sensitive illness. We examined the accuracy of a point-of-care (POC) device for the measurement of fingertip and whole blood lactate in the emergency department (ED) and the differential time to receive test results when compared to the reference assay done in the central laboratory.
