Abstract
Authors have been discussing an information-gathering system using mobile robots and wireless sensor networks (WSN) in post-disaster underground space. In our system, mobile robots carry wireless sensor nodes (SNs) and deploy them into the environment. Deployed SNs construct wireless sensor networks by Ad-Hoc connection. This paper describes a method for measuring communication quality for a mobile rescue robot tele-operation via WSN. In a wireless tele-operation, a wireless communication quality measurement is very important to prevent disconnection of communication between the rescue robot and an operator. Therefore we developed a convenient communication quality measurement method, and then a performance of the method was evaluated by comparing throughput measurement accuracy in field test. Authors confirmed availability of proposed method by experimental results.
