Abstract

As for today's powered prosthesis, only on-off control is available. The control that quantity of movement is proportional to depending on input signal is not realized for characteristic of EMG. The function that is required by amputees include accurate control of wrist joint angle. We proposed the muscle bulge movement that we could measure on the forearm skin as new signal to estimate wrist angle. We analyzed the feasibility of muscle bulge movement for accurate control of wrist angle. There were two results, the first was that relationship between wrist angle and muscle bulge movement have uniqueness. The second was variability of proposed method, because RMSE among the angle estimated by proposed method and the measured angle was within RMSE of the joint angle control by human. As a future work, we will apply this result to the control method of powered prosthesis.
