Abstract
Abstract 3 He films on Grafoil at areal density n ⪆ 0.25 atoms/A 2 have unusual magnetic properties. This system is modeled as a two dimensional solid in interaction with a two dimensional fermi liquid. A calculation of the magnetic behavior of this model leads to an RKKY exchange interaction that has several features in reasonable accord with experiment.
