Abstract

The radio wave propagation model is one of the emphases in the teaching practice of Information and Communication Engineering teaching discipline. In addition to teaching the theoretical knowledge of propagation models, we also tried to apply virtual reality technology to realize electromagnetic visualization of typical propagation models in the teaching process, so that students grasp in-depth the characteristics of various radio wave propagation models intuitively. This paper focuses on 3D visualization of electromagnetic propagation models oriented to teaching. The calculation method of transmission losses of three typical wave propagation models, namely single-peak diffraction model, free-space propagation model and Okumura-Hata propagation model, in the mountain environment was discussed. The three-dimensional electromagnetic environment visualization based on mountain terrain was achieved to help students deepen their understanding and perceptual intuition of the propagation models.
