Abstract

This article presents the design and implementation of a 3D virtual environment for the calibration of smart pressure transmitters, in the form of a computer-executable application for the Windows operating system. In the virtual environment, 3D has been integrated with a station of instrumentation and control processes which consists of a closed tank where the level of a liquid is controlled by a PID controller. For the visualization of the physical variables present in the virtual environment, a smart transmitter of differential pressure (level measurement) and a transmitter of absolute pressure is integrated. For the calibration and adjustment of the transmitters, a process calibrator, a manual pump, and pressure modules are integrated, in order to develop the procedure which consists of comparing the measurement of an instrument under test with a standard instrument and finding the error present in the measurements. In the virtual 3D environment, animations and interactions have been integrated in order to make it a more intuitive environment for the user.
