Abstract
Summary The effect of 3D seismic reservoir characterization depends upon the ability of seismic reservoir prediction, and the seismic reservoir prediction ability depends upon seismic data processing quality. Seismic data processing, reservoir prediction and geological characterization are three indispensable steps of seismic attribute-based reservoir characterization. When seismic is already acquired, the ideal seismic reservoir characterization should start from seismic data processing instead of assuming that the result quality of seismic data processing is the best. This ideal seismic reservoir characterization procedure can be fulfilled in a maturing field by using dense well data and the geological study results based on the well data. Besides the efficient reservoir prediction methods, this study also focuses on well-to-seismic integration methods in all three steps mentioned above to ensure the accuracy of seismic reservoir characterization of sedimentary layers in a dense well pattern zone,.
