Abstract

Using combined B-mode and power Doppler imaging, we were able to evaluate fetal growth and the development of fetal circulation. Fully digitalized 3D ultrasound devices with complete storage of data were used. Different rendering modes were utilized in color-coded data processing and presentation. A minimum-intensity mode was used to create a translucent image, while surface-rendered vascular images were shown in a maximum-intensity mode. The former was superior in assessment of spatial interrelationship of the vascular structures, and the latter was useful in the assessment of the morphology and outer surface of a confined vascular structure.
