Abstract

ABSTRACT Tyre models as interface between vehicle and track are developed and used with different target. Generally one differentiates between vehicle dynamics and vehicle comfort. To fullfil the standards of the vehicle comfort, tyre models must be able to calculate high frequency and geometrical non-linearity, caused by steps or ground waves. For the dynamic modelling of the roll characteristics of tyres three types of models are developed in SFB181. The discrete 3D-membrane-shell-model for the tyre can be used for vehicle comfort calculation with frequencies even beyond 1000Hz. The discretisation of the ribs as a mass-point-system enables to investigate the driving quality on deep ground. The modelling of the membrane as a mass-point-system to calculate geometrical nonlinearity. This investigation presents the 3D-membrane shell model applied to a tractor tyre and a pkw tyre on rigid ground and deep soil.
