Abstract

The paper uses a particular reduced scalar potential technique enabling 3D eddy currents modelling in cases where the currents are developed in well defined paths (such as shading rings, cages etc.). This method involves a scalar potential in the whole solution domain and a single component vector quantity in the conducting parts. Experimental verification is performed by comparing computed and measured forces, developed in a contactor consisting of an E-shape electromagnet with shading rings.
