Abstract

A 3-bit polarization insensitive reflective metasurface for radar cross section (RCS) reduction in ultra-wideband range is presented in this paper. A phase difference of 45° is realized between respective unit cells. The array is designed by a random combination of the unit cell for broadband RCS reduction. Simulation results indicate 10 dB RCS reduction for both TE and TM polarizations under normal incident for a wide band from 10 GHz to 30 GHz. Multi-bit coded metasurface have robust control of scattering of the electromagnetic waves and hence better RCS reduction is achieved.
