Abstract
In the title compound, [Cu(NO3)2(C15H19N3O)], the CuII ion is coordinated by the N atoms of the tetradentate 3-[bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amino]propanol ligand and two O atoms from two monodentate nitrate anions, resulting in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. An intermolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interaction between the free hydroxy group of the ligand and a nitrate O atom of an adjacent complex unit, gives a chain structure which extends across the (101) planes.

Palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes with bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amine or its derivatives have been investigated as potential anticancer agents including cis-platin (Rauterkus et al, 2003)
