Abstract
The title compound, C11H12N2O5, was prepared by the reaction of 3-amino-5-nitrobenzyl alcohol with acetic anhydride. The asymmetric unit contains three independent molecules which differ in geometry only by their rotation about the single bonds external to the benzene ring. The title compound is an intermediate in the synthesis of DNA minor-groove-binding polybenzamide agents.
