Abstract

Aims and Topics Although this meeting had no special theme, there was general interest in advanced pathology diagnosis, a major interest of the Society, covering a variety of biomedical applications. Over 250 participants attended the meeting, an increase compared with the previous year. The program comprised one special lecture, one invited talk, one Encouragement Award Lecture, four symposiums comprising a total of 12 presentations, 49 general subject papers (seven oral and 42 poster presentation), a technical workshop (eight papers), and two luncheon seminars. In addition, more than 100 students attended a training session organized by JSBMS on health care and mass spectrometry with the purpose of obtaining “Biomedical Mass Spectrometry Certification”. The JSBMS annual meeting has as principal audience doctors and researchers in basic and clinical medicine, who account for over 80% of Society membership, and researchers in the development of mass spectrometry instrumentation and techniques (11 %).
